Anyone's Ghost is good. So are the other two. It's just the clear weak point on High Violet. But like, what's the weak point on Alligator and Boxer? Guest Room? Geese of Beverly Road? God damn this band is good.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I'm still a relatively new fan so I guess I have to keep digging into these albums before I can really make my mind up on it. But damn, they've wrote four consistently great albums and I love the openers and closers on all of them.

Five, actually. Sad Songs is a great album. It's just an 8 rather than a 9.

I got into them at High Violet was coming out. One of my biggest regrets ever was not listening to Brian Fallon at Bonnaroo when he said to stick around for "the greatest band currently making music". He said the same thing when I went to Shaky Knees a couple years after that; I listened that time, of course.

I was kinda in my feelings at first with what you said about Anyone's Ghost, but when you put it like that, I think you're 100% right. those three songs (imho) are the weak points of the albums and I still love them all. why they're the best band

@teebs41 yeah you can't go wrong with either Boxer, High Violet, or Trouble Will Find Me as a starting point.

Geese is easily one of the best songs on Alligator

It is and it isn't. Some days I put it up there. Regardless, it's perfectly placed within the album. It's the "anti-Runaway". At worst it perfectly bridges Abel and City Middle.

I cant think of a single weak point from Secret Meeting all the way to Guilty Party and that includes b-sides/non album tracks. If i can think of ONE its Green Gloves but it still has enough charm and muscle to it to make it worthwhile.

I used to get bored with Lemon World tbh but it's grown on me now

I'm chuffed to see lemonworld mentioned in this thread quite a bit. I can't quite put my finger on why it sticks out for me but it just does. Been binging on all their stuff and can't quite believe I've only just listened to the Virginia EP. Love it.

Alligator was my entry point when it came out so I'm obviously biased that it is most certainly the best place to start.

I think no one will ever agree with this band.

Green Gloves is one of my favourites and there's a couple of duffers on HV and one on TWFM in my opinion.

Also the above statement can start from Wasp Nest.

I mean for me personally I'd say everything from Cardinal Song is at the very least good

Any least favorite song I have on an album from Alligator-onward is at least good. Anyone's Ghost and Heavenfaced are the two that come to mind as "least favorites."

On another note, I just listened to Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers for the first time last night and it was gold. Carry on

People who don't like Green Gloves are outside the light of God. Guest Room is the worst Boxer song anyways.

Okay how about openers and closers?

Mr November is easily the best closer for me. The fight for best opener is a lot harder.

Easy. Fake Empire best opener, Mr. November best closer.

Not that their other openers/closers aren't excellent, of course.

I'm not in the business of "bests," but my favorite opener from this band is tough to say between Fake Empire and Terrible Love, but I think I'd have to go with the latter lately. As for my favorite closer, I think I gotta say Hard To Find. That song cuts deep for me.
