Seek out American Mary and the live version of Cold Girl Fever and feel free to skip the rest outside of curiosity imo
In true fashion, I came here thinking there might have been a new album and of course its discography ranking
At the peak of my fandom, Boxer was my second favorite album, period. Don’t still feel that way, but it’s still easily my favorite of theirs (and favorite of 00s indie rock whatever). Maybe still in my top ten albums if I were forced to make a list? Idk. Honestly haven’t listened to another full album of theirs in long enough that I couldn’t dream of a ranking. From what I recall, either Alligator or Trouble Will Find Me would likely be second? High Violet hasn’t aged well for me. Lots of good moments, but not a super enjoyable album as a whole to listen to, imo.
Alligator to SWB is straight 9's and 10's. An all-time great run of albums. IAETF is an 8. Overstuffed, but has some gems. SSFDL is a 7. It's fine. I only ever listened to s/t once. It's a 4 or 5. Very forgettable.
Based on these dates, thinking the National will be announcing Homecoming & No Leaving New York in ‘23
i know they probably couldn’t put together setlist that i didn’t say wow to at this point, but still: wow
that's as close to an autopilot NTL setlist as I've ever seen and it's still incredible - astonishing amount of great songs this band has to pick from
Yeah i got tickets for pitchfork in part to see the national because, even though i don’t typically love their festival sets, i want to see them play some new songs.
First two whip. Third will depend on the lyrics for me. Love that they’ve got the guitars wailing for these tracks.
