Yeah, So Far So Fast is fantastic. Not In Kansas doesn’t really do it for me, even though I thought it was really engaging live.
"Not in Kansas" is a little bit silly but some of the individual lines are some of Matt's best in ages. eg "alt-right opium went viral", "it's half your fault so half forgive me"
Not in Kansas is definitely a top 3 song for me on this. Hoping they play it when I see them in 3 weeks!
Gonna try to revisit this album this weekend. Hope I can get into it because I thought it was pretty whatever the first handful of times I listened to it earlier this year
I think that's fair, but that's part of the charm, there's a vulnerability to it where you feel Matt just blurting shit out because it's how he feels. (Truthfully think he's had one or two lines over the years that are iffy too though lol but I won't go there right now).
This borders on a perfect album for me but since we’re talking about tracks people skip I could completely go without hearing Hairpin Turns ever again
Don’t think there’s a bad one on here but my potentially hot take is that You Had Your Soul With You is one of their weaker tracks and (even more so) one of their weaker singles.
oh man, love that one. the pull of you is my least fav, bc im not a big fan of the spoken word section
Not sure if I love or hate that we all have such different opinions on this thread. Hairpin Turns is the best song on here
The fact that the opinions vary so much just speak to the brilliance of the record. On some days this is my favorite thing they’ve ever done. I had to take a 60+ day break because at a certain point I was listening to this literally all day every day. Went back to it on Wednesday and it completely blew me away all over again. There’s probably not a better band on planet earth lol.
I think "Not In Kansas" is the most enjoyable song on this for me. Not arguing that it is the best one, because this album is STACKED, but it is the one that puts a huge goofy grin on my face every time.
