I know a lot of people agree with you. I just don't get it. Aside from 3-4 tracks, I find it largely uncompelling.
you wild for this one Craig, what songs do you enjoy from it? i hope "Lit Up" is one or else theres going to be trouble
the last five songs on Alligator is probably a lock for my favourite run of all time bar none. The National are great and I love them but they've never touched that run again for me personally. one man's take
There was a period of time that I thought it was their best, so I get it, but I've absolutely outgrown that take. It's still a lot of fun but Boxer & HV>>>>>>
This ones gonna be a grower for me, but the title track is undeniably one of my instant favorite National songs. Takes me to a different reality or something
The only two I can say I really love are "Abel" and "Mr. November." It's funny, my opinions on this band have similarly shifted a lot. A few years ago, my favorite was TWFM, which is probably third or fourth now. High Violet is their best, for me.
I've gone full circle. When I first found this band around 2009ish Boxer was by far my favorite and it's probably tops again for me now
My deluxe vinyl came! Unfortunately I didn’t get home from work until 10:45 so I can’t even open it because I need to go to bed
i didnt really like sleep well beast at all so i havent been all that eager to jump into this. the singles were nice but washed right over me, havent heard the studio version of rylan yet tho. hope im surprised by the record
OK SO 1. I made Quiet Light (Extended) Here is the link, via Clyp 2. I have an alt tracklist including "Turn on Me" 3. Review coming later today from SPIN.com
