Yeah he harmonizes with Matt during the chorus parts of I'll Still Destroy You and the sample that drives both that song and the title track contain Justin's voice pitched up. The parts that sound like a little indie choo choo train haha
I'm in agreement on the podcast. I'm going to power through it because I want to hear what the band has to say but the hosts are not good.
I listened to High Violet on my ride in to work this afternoon and I already have Trouble Will Find Me tee'd up for the ride home tonight.
Going bankrupt just to see Vampire Weekend and The National at Northerly. Doesn't help I'm buying two tickets each time. Also, Bon Iver the day after National in Milwaukee. Just those three shows set me back nearly $500 for two tickets to each. Hurts to think about.
Boxer is my favorite album - I am thoroughly obsessed with it - but man I couldn’t get through the Fake Empire episode of coffee and Flowers
Host 1: “Stay out super late tonight... what do you think that means?” Host 2: “It makes me think of staying out like uh suuuper late at night, and I just love that imagery”
Definitely agree. This version of I Need My Girl with Lauren from Chvrches is one of my favourite live videos ever.
It’s a bummer cuz the “reading series” and everything sounds cool, and the interviews with Carin and Matt and Katis are really interesting.
haha yeah that episode in particular was not very introspective at all. i still am enjoying the podcast for what its worth (i just finished the green gloves episode) but i was really hoping for more of a Dissect style approach. not that the national needs that kind of analysis by any means, but i guess i was just hopeful for more
In the Green Gloves episode one of them literally says something like “feels like our narrator is missing his old friends, like we all do, but you hope they’re still staying glued together and you, you know, have arms for them”
