Both new songs are great, and Bryce Dessner apparently said on Instagram that there are more songs to come.

 

Having given both a few listens - I prefer Alphabet City.

 

Shoutout to the random bar of 5/4 as a turnaround into verse 3 of Alphabet City, it’s strange but it works

 

It’s like a relic of TWFM when they use all sorts of odd time signatures

 

I’m expecting MSG tomorrow to be nothing sort of transcendent.

 

Space Invaders is so. fucking. good.

 

I like both but space invaders is better

 

Both of these new songs are glorious.

 

Seems like hyperbole but this is the best music they’ve released in months.

 

I also think I prefer “Alphabet City”, though I definitely understand the love for “Space Invader”. More oddly though I still prefer the 3-4 best songs off of Frankenstein to either.

 

space invader is a good piece of music but ultimately does little to change my opinion on their current era

Strong rumors of new album soon, 11 tracks, think new single probably on Monday 9/18 but there are rumors that the whole album will drop then. I think single and album announcement then with album following soon after is a likely scenario.
