Saw them for the first time ever last night and wow they killed it. Setlist was pretty perfect too The National Setlist at Greek Theatre, Los Angeles
As we were leaving last night, a man stood at his seat with tears streaming down his face and his partner was patting him on the shoulder and back. Incredible show. Maybe the best I’ve ever seen them post their tiny club show era in the mid 2000s.
Show last night was indeed great. Wish I’d have seen the poster for sale. Space Invaders sounded real good. About Today remains an all timer live song
Last night was my first time seeing them, great show. Briefly looked over the set list before I went and was hoping to see About Today and was a bit bummed thinking about it but after looking it over this morning was very pleased with the set I saw. Overall more songs I knew and enjoyed. Hell of a show. The National Setlist at Greek Theatre, Los Angeles
Does anyone have any insider info on the Homecoming Festival regarding if The National are planning anything special for their sets? I have a prior engagement that Saturday I already paid for so I want to know if it would be worth skipping for both nights of the festival.
Man, the Portland show sucked. Edgefield is by far the worst larger outdoor venue I’ve ever been to. They recently expanded the capacity by 2000 without adding anything to the sound system so the back half of the venue could barely hear the band. You have to show up hours early to even get a decent spot and I’m definitely too old for that shit. Everyone around me was talking so loud that you couldn’t hear anything. It felt like a social gathering with music in the background rather than a concert. The first time in a long time I’ve left a show early just because the experience was not fun at all. I hope they come back soon to a proper indoor venue. I’d much rather pay more and see them at a nicer, smaller venue than see them in a large venue where half of the crowd doesn’t even seem to give a shit.
Saw them last night for the 10th time and somehow it was my favorite performance of theirs. Absolute crushed it. New song Space Invaders is massive.
Before they play each of the new songs, Matt gives a disclaimer that they’re about to play a bad song that real fans shouldn’t enjoy but they’re going to do it in a way that actually breathes more life into the song and has Bryan drumming and it actually kinda makes the songs not that bad live. It’s good to know that the band is finally looking out for us again.
Hey, while we’re stirring shit up, I listened to Weird Goodbyes yesterday for the first time since it initially came out and I like it now! It’s good! Could use some more Bryan though :/
Yeah. Weird Goodbyes has aged well and it was a pretty fun choice for their encore when they played LA.
A good chunk of that album's songs require guest vocalists to be able to replicate those parts in a live setting, they don't play those without features. Songs from IAETF have been comparatively sparse on this tour for that reason.
