Apart from a few songs each, I haven’t connected with either of the last two albums. Conversely, High Violet and Trouble are all-time favorites for me, and everything before that is excellent. I will always listen to a new album from The National, but my expectations aren’t particularly high.

Random aside, does anyone remember hearing that the fairly young-ish band you fell in love with a year or two ago was getting a documentary and it was being released with a new EP, feeling super excited to watch, and then entering the DVD in your PlayStation on release day and Vincent Moon’s 40 minute contrasted-to-hell art film with abstract instrumentals played?
