I don’t think that’s what’s happening here. A lot of this recent thread has been in response to two snarky ass comments made earlier. The “go listen to blink 182” one and “the national is not a real band anymore bc of electronic drums (sarcasm)” comments. That’s not what they are verbatim but the general sentiment. It’s funny too because I said I’m torn on the song not that I dislike it

I listened to the song just now after getting home from work and doing a quick run stumbling jog on the treadmill, and after reading your comments I will say that I like the song more every time I listen to it and it's whole vibe is winning me over more each time.

I also weirdly told myself I was going to stop listening to pre-release songs and try to have restraint and listen to whole albums as an experience when they come out and I have completely and utterly failed to do so with like 5 major releases coming up, this one included.

I’m glad you like it! I don’t think it’s anything game-changing from them, but it’s solid and enjoyable, to me. I think it’s a fine addition to their discogrophy

I brought up the waiting thing because after listening to these two tracks I just get the distinct feeling that the best way to hear these songs is going to be by sitting down with a glass of something and listening to the entire album on something with good sound, like definitely not my phone.

Really listening to new order t-shirt and yeah this song rules. Also there’s definitely some actual drumming on this so I don’t get that complaint.

  7. Catching up on my notifications and I don't think I can read three more pages of this nonsense lol

but really though. if y'all enjoy the music, great. if not, also great. just leave it at that.

  9. I haven't even listened to the song yet and I'm sure it's good, everyone in here should shut up imo

This is an honest question: what is the point of a forum if not for a (ideally civilized) discussion of opinions on the thing the forum is about?

  13. Yeah I don't think you could pay me to read the past three pages lol this thread is full of freaks

Song is alright, I prefer "Tropic Morning News" but I'm positive this one will also grow on me

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I would like to say I agree with the poster who said "So Far So Fast" is the most recent National song to destroy me. I feel that

I’m not even invested in any of this but Tropicana News is cool. I guess? The one about the t-shirt ain’t half bad.

What is the point of that unnecessarily rude comment and the one earlier about telling people to just shut up? Very edgy of you I guess

Maybe The National's "real drums" ran away and got married to Fall Out Boy's "real guitars."

As punishment for this conversation they should go back and replace all the drums on all the songs they’ve ever put out with drum loops

Rumor is the third National single is constructed around a sample of the Munsters theme song.

Yep his lyrics really shine on this, it makes me happy that his writing seems to be in such a strong place. Also, yes i love the callback too, I had no idea that happened until today and it’s insane lol.
