It’s pretty National - by - the - numbers and as I’ve said, i want them to sound exciting, but the lyrics are cool and the song sounds good. I wish they’d let the drums off the leash. Biggest issue is Matt doesn’t sing low anymore. I think it’s because he gave up cigaretttes. Not a big fan of the tired voice shit.
It's a cool song, and it's definitely better than Weird Goodbyes, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss Bryan Devendorf's drumming.
song is great and I actually found myself vibing to "Weird Goodbyes" more when it autoplayed after. both songs would jump a few points up with some actual real Devendorf drums and not the GarageBand ass beats they both have for some reason
Guys, this song is really really good. The guitar work and the bright tones and the way Matt sounds… yow.
not to get all 'as a drummer' but there's something to be said for playing for the song. Bryan has written and played all his own parts for two decades, y'all. he's got this.
how were they playing this one live? willing to guess he’s got a pad or two he’s using. maybe a mix of that and live drums from the sound of some of the tom/fill work
