Movie had me at, "You can't fight city hall." "No, it's a building." Such a fun time. I feel like a child for how much I'm still laughing at the "beg for the brown" joke.
The two best things about this movie were (1.) that whole snowman sequence, and (2.) the woman in roughly her 50s or so who was in my mostly empty showing (I think there were about 5 of us total) who laughed a good bit throughout. She was the only person besides me who stayed through all the credits; she chuckled at some of the gags in there and on the way out said to me, “even the credits were funny!” I hope I have as much pure joy at da movies in a couple decades as she did.
I might go see this again. I didn't love it the first time but there were two guys in the front talking at full volume throughout. I moved away from them after the first 20 minutes or so but I was already put in a bad headspace.
Finally seeing this tomorrow! Not expecting many other people in the theater but I'm seeing it with my dad who I remember watching the original with a lot as a kid so that will be fun
Okay I fucking loved this, I literally don't think a single scene went by without me laughing at least once. Akiva absolutely nailed this This and Friendship are two of the funniest movies I've seen in honestly probably years
Saw this a second time with a packed theater. Great crowd. A woman brought her dad with her for his birthday and proceeded to say “Oh God!” at every dad joke.
I might finally see this this weekend but I just found out about the PG-13 and I am slightly worried.
Anyone know what this needs to make to break even? At 60m world wide right now. Want it to well enough so more of these mid budget comedies get made.
They are already planning a sequel so it is making money. It is rare for movies to even stay in theaters this long these days.
My theater still has 6 times. That’s good for something like this. Typically it would be down to maybe 3
That is closer to accurate. I thought it was in theaters longer but it is still impressive that a non-blockbuster still is running all day in theaters in its third week.
