Stoked for 7pm tonight. If anyone else wants to get hyped, The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast talked a bit about the reboot this week (first 20 minutes or so, completely spoiler free) and Unspooled is covering the original.
Got my ticket to see it tonight. Trying to keep my expectations in check with all the positive reviews, but I fucking love this type of humor and I’m ready to laugh so hard I cry.
Good mix of ZAZ style comedy and Lonely Island surreal silliness. Is absolutely another naked gun movie but also feels very much like Akiva’s voice
Happy to report that this ripped. Everyone involved understood the assignment and nailed the delivery and writing. My favorite bits (that I can remember out of the thousands in it): the windshield sequence, “how’d she pass?” into football conversation, the Black Eyed Peas love fest back and forth, snowman sequence, how Drebin got the henchman to confess. Definitely gonna need to see this again because I was consistently laughing over punchlines left and right.
Glad this is hitting for everyone else but aside from a few standout jokes it was pretty hit or miss for me.
My theater was dead so it was just a few chuckles during the more outrageous parts but fun time. I’m really surprised this got such great reviews, not because it wasn’t funny, but because I feel that in the old days movies like this would not get glowing reviews. This was basically an on point Loaded Weapon or Hot Shots. Pamela Anderson was incredible and the MVP in my book.
A lot of MCUs feel like “wait for streaming” movies for me at this point lol But a comedy like Naked Gun - that demands to be seen in a cinema
I get it, although generally my feeling is big action movies are for big screens and comedies are typically what you can enjoy at home for an evening in. But this is also the first Naked Gun movie in forever and it'd be great if it launched a revival of this kind of film. I want to see this but I'm on call for the next two weekends and I know from experience that the minute I set foot in a theater is when a server will crash somewhere, so I think I'll have to wait until it's less of a risk.
