  1. this is the one on which LMM is most prominent, if you are averse. I kind of wish he wasn't there and I go back and forth on him, but I like this song a lotttt and can't get it out of my head

    EVENT CALENDAR — Coffey Street

    "Stay Alive is a new juke box musical in development from Welcome to Night Vale creator Joseph Fink, writer Meg Bashwiner and singer/song writer Erin Mckeown.

    Stay Alive, the first theatrical work built from the music of the beloved cult band the Mountain Goats, considers the themes and characters that the band has been writing about for 30 years: those who have been cast aside, who must make their own way, who do any stupid thing just to stay alive.

    Presentation
    Stay Alive creators Joseph Fink, Meg Bashwiner and Erin McKeown will present selected portions of their work in progress and will join in a discussion about cross discipline collaboration and the creation of the modern day Jukebox Musical.

    ABOUT THE CREATORS:
    Joseph Fink (Book & Additional Lyrics, Creator) is the creator of the hit podcasts Welcome to Night Vale, Alice Isn't Dead, and Unlicensed, and the New York Times bestselling author of several novels, including Welcome to Night Vale and It Devours! He and his wife, Meg Bashwiner, co-wrote the memoir The First Ten Years. His live stage work has been performed in 20 countries, including two West End theaters and the main stage of the Sydney Opera House

    Meg Bashwiner (Book & Additional Lyrics, Creator) is a writer, performer, emcee and producer. She plays the role of “Deb” and “Proverb Lady” on the hit podcast Welcome to Night Vale and has toured in the Welcome to Night Vale live show to 17 countries and almost all 50 US states as the show’s emcee. She is the author of the book The First Ten Years, co-written with Joseph Fink. She is an alumni ensemble member of the New York Neo-Futurists and has toured productions of their shows The Infinite Wrench and Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Providence Improv Festival and headlined the Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in Austin. She is a co-host and producer of the podcast Good Morning Night Vale. She is the producer of the Audible Original Unlicensed. Her theatrical producing work includes the Drama Desk- Nominated The Human Symphony, and The Innovative Theater Award -Winning Locker 4173b.

    Erin McKeown (Music Supervisor, Orchestrator, Additional Lyrics) is a musician, writer, and producer who has released 10 albums since their 2000 debut, Distillation. Erin’s first musical, Miss You Like Hell, written with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Quiara Alegría Hudes, had its world premiere at La Jolla Playhouse in 2016 and opened Off-Broadway at The Public Theater in 2018. It was nominated for 5 Drama Desk Awards, including Best Lyrics, Best Music and Best Orchestrations, and The Wall Street Journal named it Best Musical of 2018. As a bandleader, Erin has performed at Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, and Newport Folk Festivals. McKeown’s songs are a familiar presence on NPR and the BBC and have appeared in film, television, and advertising. They have taught at their alma mater Brown University, The University of Chicago, and Smith College. Their latest musical, OUT HERE directed by Chay Yew, is under commission with Chicago’s Court Theatre for production in the 25/26 season."
