This is really good.

 

This is great. Penultimate track is stunning.

 

I loved it on first and second listen. I started listening to the podcast on it, really interesting

if I've never listened to TMG would it be bad to dive in with this?

 

Not at all, it’s a really good album. And if you don’t end up linking this one, the rest of his discography is vast and varied and there’s almost certainly something you’ll love in there.

 

Tallahassee or The Sunset Tree is probably your best bet tbh

 

Closer on this is incredible but as a whole I think it’s gonna have to grow on me

 

going invisible 2, antidote, and clemency are my favs so far i think

Both are something I’ve always meant to listen to, maybe I’ll just do all three!

I read his first novel and loved it so I assume I’ll like his music

Dude, Wolf in White Van is phenomenal. His other one is also highly rec’d

 

podcast today is on Going Invisible 2! I guess it used to be the opener

 

Yeah, I loved it and have had my eye on Harvester for a while, will definitely pick it up

 

Harvester is really great too, v moody

 

This band is relentless and I am very grateful that John seems to have an endless well of great songs.

They get better and better musically with each album. The little soft-rock touches are just wonderful.

 

Darnielle may never be a classically “great” singer, but it’s really impressive how much his voice has improved over the years. You can tell he’s put a lot of work into it.

 

I did not care for the singles, and I’ve not lived the post-All Eternals Deck records, but hell i think this one is killer.

 

Possum by Night is so great

 

I love that John could quote Mama Said Knock You Out and it's just like yeah that sounds about right
I like how the songs have gotten bigger and they're more of a full band but they're still TMG
I really hope the first song sounding like Oh Sherrie by Steve Perry is on purpose

 

Well this is just fantastic

 

Stephen sounding pretty raspy there

 

I mean he isn’t a singer at all, not sure what you were expecting.
