If my hair looks as awesome as everyone in this band's does after 50 then I'll probably put out a couple records a year too just for an excuse to keep taking promo shots to show it off.
I almost never listen to TY, but i think it’s better than i usually give it credit for. I got to see him debut most of those songs with Anonymous 4 in NYC and fell in love with those versions, and something about the arrangements/production never quite clicked for me. That said, the title track is top 10 Goats.
Mostly I just want a tMG tattoo of some sort and some version of that artwork might look cool around the arm. Between that and a Jason Molina tattoo and I’ll probably never come to a decision
“In Memory Of Satan” is one of my favorite songs and that record is probably my favorite tMG record. Have wanted to interpolate the artwork into a tattoo but have no clue how
Comparing it to Get Lonely is a sure-fire way to get my expectations all the way up. Cant listen to that album as much as his other stuff, but it’s one of the most essential albums in my music-listening history.
Listening right now. It vibes. I love his more emotional singing returning on this album. Lyrics are hitting hard too. Reminds me a big of Grey King off of Goths. Edit: love the reference to Never Quite Free. The piano at one point sounds like it references As Many Candles as Possible as well. I'm also loving their slow transformation into a jam band. I hope he goes through with that jam band version of Move (Chicago 196X) that he referenced at that one Bottom of the Hill show lmao
Still think Mobile is my favorite, but i like this more than the last one. Very excited for the record.
