"Training Montage" is out there if you have a VPN. If the whole album is along the same lines, I'm going to absolutely love it.
If this song is indicative of the album, I am going to absolutely love this album Edit: Just saw Troy's comment saying basically the same thing haha
this song has me more pumped for new mountain goats than I've been in years. like the other people have said above me, gonna be a hell of an album if this song is any indication.
I agree with all the previous posts in this thread (and probably most of the following ones as well).
their best song (give or take an exegetic chains) probably since beat the champ. and i’ve really liked those records
If anyone gets the super bundle and doesn't want the poster, I'll pay for you to send it to me. Edit: Maybe the poster comes with every record? At least the Hello Merch preorder makes it seem that way: Bleed Out Double LP Red Swirl Vinyl
Their last three records have gone in one ear and out the other for me, but this one has me excited, especially since Alicia from Bully plays on it
Decided to go through and make a playlist of all his lofi stuff today! I didn't focus too heavily on song transitions, mostly just my favorites from each release. I tried to go in chronological order but might have messed up a bit idk, just made it for fun! Here it is if anyone wants to check it out
Probably gonna go through his studio stuff tomorrow and make one. He has so much stuff out there, it's fun to comb through
I used to be a huge TMG fans and the. One day…I just wasn’t. Maybe the only artist this has really happened with. I interviewed John once for my college radio station at Zoop a benefit concert in Watkins Glen NY. He’s such a neat dude. I’ve been trying to wrap my finger around why I stopped following them. I think it is just too much material and far out there source material. That being said I listened to this today and was excited. Hoping this is the album that gets me back into them.
imo this is pretty easily their best record since Beat the Champ (which I get the sense I like a lot more than a lot of people so you might sub that with Transcendental Youth) and I've liked all of those albums. it feels really focused and the rock and roll edge makes it really pop. the concepts/themes are so John, they make a lot of sense coming after Devil House (which imo is incredible and probably still my favorite book I've read this year).
