Seems hard to argue that two different sets weren't "unique"

 

It is a fine line, to be sure.

They did play some different songs, so it wasn't a complete repeat, but then again Tool songs tend to be long and so I'm not sure what percentage of the sets were actually the same.

I think it illustrates though how people tend to overinterpret the meaning behind words. Like clearly a unique set doesn't necessarily mean no repeats, but I can see how someone arrived at that conclusion.

 

tool fans are annoying but the band also seems to deliberately fuck with their fans so I wouldn't be surprised if their set was terrible lol

 

I would argue that even if they played all the same songs they'd still inherently be "unique" sets because no two live performances are identical. Would it piss me off if I was a fan? Yeah. But is there precedence for a lawsuit? No.

 

I dunno, I mean, this was their own inaugural event where people paid an exorbitant amount of money to be there.

If it were just a show, that's one thing, but this was clearly advertised as a special thing and treated as such, and I think that matters a bit.

In any case, I have no horse in this race, but I'm fascinated to see how it shakes out, and if the band comments on the scenario.

 

10,000 days is an absolutely incredible album. Fear inoculum is audio Xanax. puts you to sleep and you immediately forgot what you just heard

 

Glad my lame Tool shitpost took off. Band is talented, but dear God, their music is fucking awful. I'll save my thoughts on Maynard, but they aren't positive.

I was that Tool fan

 

Tool is one of those bands I *should* like because I was a big A Perfect Circle fan and also because they've influenced so many of my faves but for some reason their music mostly goes in one ear out the other.

It tends to blend together, to the point the only songs I'd be willing to revisit are the few that are in another guitar tuning than the Drop D they mostly write everything around. I get the appeal, not the obsession but different strokes for different folks yadda yadda

 

the bass playing cannot be overstated tho, Justin Chancellor's tones are the gold standard for me

 

I never got into any of their other albums (but I do love schism) or side projects outside of 10k days. That album just had so many bangers. Vicarious (all time riff), wings for Marie pt 1 and 2, right in two, Rosetta Stoned. Its extremely good
