seven little mini blurbs for ya this week

 

Hell yeah. Death rules. Symbolic is my go-to album.

Strangely enough, when I went through my journey of metal essential albums, I also did not initially care for that Suffocation album. I wasn't super into the Dismember album either. I've since warmed to both of them but brutal death metal isn't my thing. HM-2 obviously rules, I prefer The Jester Race out of all those Swedish bands/albums tbh.

And yeah that Deicide album is fkin evil sounding as hell.

Do thrash next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

andy has a bug up his ass about most thrash. though, tbf, the point of this is mostly highlighting stuff the other person doesn’t know and i’d say i know most of the thrash records that would be worth covering

i like symbolic more but we did that last year

 

So I was listening to Shadow of Intent at a friend's suggestion, and I had a question come up in my mind, that I remember thinking when first listening to Lorna Shore:

Is there metal out there that has the clean production and riffing/drumming of deathcore without the comical pig squeal vocals and lame breakdowns? I feel like I'm just describing death metal, but it seems like I haven't found many death metal bands that have the sheen in production that a lot of newer deathcore does.

EDIT: I guess the new JFAC song scratches this itch, so maybe I'm looking for deathcore bands that evolved out of the usual tropes.

I could have sworn I listened to this, but the release date is saying October 17, 2023. Is it just hitting bandcamp or something? Or is this a different release?

 

Maggot Stomp is doing the wider physical release of it. That's how it hit my radar.

 

happy Cirith Ungol, Krieg (came out on the 15th but whatever), Afterbirth, Diabolic Night, Worm/Dream Unending split, Myrkur, etc release day for all those that celebrate

 

New Sentenced 2 Die is pretty solid. Clean vocals on track 7 caught me off guard though.

 

Dream Unending is the Tomb Mold side project yeah?
