Speaking of deathcore

 

I’ll never forget arguably the best piece of advice I received when I started playing drums. My neighbor told me it’s easy to play fast because, if you mess up, barely anyone will notice. If you mess up plying slow, everyone will notice

Not to mention there’s so much that goes into playing dynamically that anyone who says playing a song or style is easy because it’s slow kind of raises my eyebrow a bit

 

Go see enforced if you get a chance.

tried the Impetuous Ritual album, not really my thing. When the most similar artist by far is Portal, it just sounds like noise to me. boomer ass take I know

 

Haven't listened to the new Impetuous Ritual yet, but this ain't as much of a hot take as you think. That kind of dissonance and chaos in death metal isn't for everyone. There's a reason I've been loving the simplicity of OSDM and death/doom with most of the new bands that aren't grindcore I've gotten into over the past couple years.

 

My three year old was asking me about the art on the Dissection shirt I was wearing as I was putting him to bed tonight, and I didn't know how to approach it other than to say, "It's a band daddy likes." Disregard the fact it's sort of a skull on a pike. I feel like I'm screwed here.

Cattle Decap, 200 Stab Wounds and blackbraid tonight!

 

I passed this one up, let us know how it is!

 

Blackbraid I'm not super familiar with but they put on a hell of a show and were received really well but the crowd was still pretty calm.

200 Stab Wounds continue to impress the hell out of me, watching them play is also so damn fascinating cause dudes can fucking play.

Then Cattle Decap kind of blew me away. I've somehow never seen them over the years but they sounded about as tight as a live band could sound, and Travis Ryan is a damn animal.

 

She's a badass

 

I know this is an off-date from their tour with the satanic Mystery Machine roadshow, but I'd love it if this was a full tour.

 

I’d much rather go see that than paying whatever to go see them come to town with Ghost and bake in the summer heat.

 

idk what it is but I could never get into Cattle Decapitation. They're a good band doing solid stuff but it does nothing for me. And I'm definitely not a fan of the weird clean vocals, even though I know that's a big part of it

 

Cattle Decapitation was better when they were a grind band.
