I'd agree with maybe one of those over CC and that's just based on personal preference - demilich. i'd also put the following on par with cannibal corpse for me personally at least - death, dismember, entombed, at the gates, bolt thrower, and because i'm a poser, amon amarth.

 

entombed are so weird to me. left hand path is an undeniable classic but i can't fuck with anything past that really.
cannibal corpse are a lot of fun, i'm not knocking them.

That would be a wild album to see live but imagine going thinking you're seeing them to play death metal and they play that lol

 

Timewave Zero was pretty bad even as an ambient album to me tbh.

 

I liked it quite a bit. I was already on a pretty big ambient/drone kick in 2022, though.

 

I get what they were going for with it, but I almost wish they'd have put a different name on it than Blood Incantation despite them being abundantly clear this is what they were planning on doing from the beginning with the band.

Now I really want more Spectral Voice.
