I haven't really followed Sepultura a lot post Max, but I agree, this album is not bad.

If you'll pardon my plebeianity for a moment, I'd like to share a few examples of deathcore that may have something that appeals to the traditional extreme metal fan.

Aversions Crown. Fantastic Australian deathcore that takes a lot of cues from tech-death, but in an entirely tasteful ways. Their lyrics are also a selling point for me - poetic, vile, despairing, and mystical all rolled into one. On top of that, some of those riffs will get stuck in your head for days, man. They're not too terribly breakdown-heavy either if that's something that's a huge turnoff to you. And when they do play breakdowns, it's done in a tasteful or interesting way. Highly recommend these folks.

Lorna Shore. Blackened technical deathcore from New Jersey if I'm not mistaken. I know that sounds like a clustfuck, but trust me when I say it isn't. Technical riffing without getting wanky and blackened sounds that show the band has indeed listened to more black metal than Dimmu Borgir and Dark Funeral. Much like the above as well, when they do play breakdowns, they do it in an off-the-beaten-path way.

And that's just a couple of examples because I don't need to go on a twenty-band feature spree despite my wholehearted capability to do that like I'm trying to be Trevor Strnad or something because I have an assignment due in T-minus three hours sharp.

Decrepit Birth is so incredible. I'd be so mad if that tour was my only way to see them.

Hot damn, I know this video was uploaded last year but this album has me hyped as hell. I bought it after listening to two songs, making it my first metal purchase of 2017. It absolutely crushes:

FFO: Dead Congregation, Incantation. Comes out Friday!

Kinda think i've fully made it into the deathcore scene. Whitechapel is my favorite but Thy Art is Murder is quickly becoming another favorite

Did you guys ever get into Impending Doom?

I like Impending Doom's older stuff. Not so much their newer stuff. I go as far as The Serpent's Servant, and from then on I don't care much for it.

I'm not a huge deathcore fan, but Whitechapel's This Is Exile remains one of my favorite heavy releases. Also get into All Shall Perish if you haven't already.

I saw The Body play an all electronic set last night with Alcest, and it was okay. Definitely prefer them live when they're playing as a drum and guitar two piece a lot more though.

You're welcome. ASP is easily my favorite deathcore band. The singer is now singing with Suicide Silence, but he's said that he'll be back to make another All Shall Perish album soon. Although he's been saying that for a while now.
