I know this has already been posted posted but damn, if the rest of the record is this good, we may have an AOTY contender. The balance of heavy/light is utter brilliance.

 

I don't listen to Lamb of God much anymore, but they played Vigil last night and that is still such a jam.

 

first two Lamb albums continue to be killer - don’t care for anything that came after tho

Not gonna post the direct embed here because there's a black metal dude in the woods hanging brain on the cover to keep this website SFW, but here's a really good two-song black metal release that's a side project of one of the guitarists in Blood Incantation and Spectral Voice. Bleak, primeval stuff if you're into the sound of more traditional black metal.

you’re not wrong btw & it is kinda like an artsy fartsy melodic Meshuggah for better or worse

 

and for some people that's the perfect sound

Masstaden is a fun album

 

I have never heard of them before

 

They were one of the biggest bands at the heart of the djent explosion of the early 2010s

 

It is VERY good.

 

Outer Heaven just dropped a covers EP.

 

I was just listening to Secret Face

 

I listened to that Lorna Shore ep & I liked it

 

This reminds me of a lot of the Sumerian bands like Veil of Maya and Born of Osiris. Not bad.

I was surprised to learn this week that Jonas from Katatonia had a side project back in the day - I’m a huge fan of Dance of December Souls (masterpiece) & this is in that style so this is an awesome surprise
