The Obsessed are worth bringing up here because they're one of the OG American doom metal bands, and Wino's spent time with Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan, and Shrinebuilder among other bands. He also one of the vocalists Dave Grohl had on the Probot album he put out. He's definitely done some good work over the years, but this probably shouldn't be surprisingly considering he's a 60 year old conspiracy theorist with a long history of drug abuse.

 

It isn't Deafheaven or Wolves In The Throne Room, but here's another black metal release from a band out of South Dakota out today that you probably shouldn't overlook if you're into the more melodic side of black metal ala WITTR, UADA, and Panopticon.

 

So credibility out the window for the sake of a conspiracy theory? Sounds about right.

 

100% - I heard a song on Decibel a month or so ago and was blown away

 

Hm only listened to the first 2 songs on the BTBAM album but I liked it so far. The second song starts the exact same way the second song on Colors does, pretty cool

 

new Wolves In The Throne Room absolutely rules

Posted this in the hardcore thread but this is an insane chaotic metalcore release w/ members of Vein and Vomit Forth. Great if you like Sectioned or early Converge. I’ve listened like five times in the past day

 

This is a really good album. Band is firing on all cylinders. Yes, Tommy’s screamed vocals are rough but it’s still a solid record.

It's gonna be hard for me to find 78 minutes to give this thing a proper listen. Ugh.

 

As usual, it is about 20 minutes too long but its a solid return to form.
