Here's my pointless take

ETID at its root is southern hardcore

 

From Buffalo, NY. Arguably the most "northern" city in the US.

Obviously not geographically but, let's be honest, it may as well be Canada.

 

Went to a show there once (to see ETID ironically) and it was one of the coldest days ever and snow everywhere. It might have just been Canada.

Cool but weird show:
-local band and I remember the lead guitarist was wearing this awful Hawaiian shirt but they killed it and played Judas Priest style metal.
-This Day Forward (pre-Circa Survive)
-ETID
-Shadows Fall

 

That is the most random line up...

 

Feel like a lot of mid to late 2000s shows had random lineups

I think in 06 or 07 I saw poison the well headlining with HORSE the band and the fall of troy supporting.

 

PTW, Horse and FOT sounds like a killer show

 

Looks like Dee Snider will be appearing/performing in the latest Cobra Kai season

 

Off the top of my head, I think the most random lineup I've ever seen at a show I made it to was Like Rats opening for Owen.

 

In 09, I saw DEP open for Thursday. Fake Problems was also on the bill.

 

I often talk about bands under the -core umbrella with the mindset of while they may not "technically" be metal in a lot of cases, they're "in the conversation," so it counts to discuss them in metal spaces.

 

Man Gojira are just too good. Going through their discog, and on L’enfant Sauvage. Some monster tracks on this. Particularly Mouth of Kala.

 

Yeah they're in the side streets and small towns but metal's the nearest city.

The best metal band going in my opinion. Interested what your thoughts will be on Magma.

 

They're the suburbs to metal's Chicago, LOL.
