The new Diamond Head Lightning to the Nations re-recording is pretty sick

Kinda full circle how they're covering Metallica now, but...

 

The new Within the Ruins is pretty good. Not sure how I feel about the new vocalist yet. I think they are far more diverse now and less “robotic”.

nope. it's just our of the first large scale metal tour announcements i've seen since worldwide covid numbers started getting bad again. call me a pessimist, but i'm starting to view the bulk of 2021 as a wash for large scale shows without social distancing measures hence the believe it when i see it sentiment.

still though, that's a dope tour for unto others (fka idle hands). they deserve it after don't waste your time and mana.

 

New track from French metalcore band, Novelists... Might be my favorite thing they’ve put out.

My first pass at this Palm Reader album is going pretty well

 

Listened at least 10 times. Top 10 for this year for sure.

 

haven't listened yet, but expectations are high

 

anyone into Akercocke? thinking of starting to explore their discography - never listened to them but the extreme black / death + prog mix intrigues me

The Palm Reader album has a lot of that thick modern metal production that to me often takes away some of the personality and uniqueness of a band. Lyrically and vocally I find it a bit cliche and mawkish in a way that leaves me cold at times.

I say all that despite the fact that I still think overall it's a really impressive and accomplished record with some really good songs. Given the size of some of their much less interesting peers, they should be a lot bigger. As an album, it's not something that excites me that much personally but lots of people would enjoy it if they had a wider audience.

 

What, you don't think it's a really impressive, accomplished record?

 

Your critique of it was very confusing and I had a hard time following where you were going with it but it sounds like a back handed compliment overall. For how small of a band they are (and how young they are) they are light years ahead of their peers and this is a huge step forward for them.
