I think we did bring it up when it came out
You should check out the acacia strains recent releases
not gonna like “deathcore Katatonia” is picking my interest even when I’m not a deathcore fan
which now that I think of...
anyone care to recommend one deathcore album that is artsy & out of the box & one that is just trying to be as stupid & brutal as possible? please don’t hit me with a long-ass list bc I will not know what to try out lol
kinda wanna sample what the genre has to offer
I didn't see any discussion when I was looking for an album thread
slice the cake - odyssey of the west
fit for an autopsy - the sea of tragic beasts
I mean I don’t think we tend to talk about Deathcore in general a lot in here so I’m not surprised.
In terms of good Deathcore this year:
I was never into straight deathcore (except Impending Doom, they're fun) but I'll always rec All Shall Perish for a taste of tech deathcore
This might be the weirdest fest lineup I've ever seen, but it's for a good cause to benefit one of the guitarists from Landmine Marathon.
Man Sepultura go hard huh
Exhumed into Jim Adkins is JARRING
Proggy stuff streaming a day early:
Mostly instrumental blackened post-metal:
Screen reading hurts my eyes and my ADHD ass NEEDS a highlighter on hand to follow along with books and actually comprehend what I'm taking in.
I definitely back the mention of Slice The Cake's "Odyssey to the West" for the artsy out of the box pick and also give a nod to something like Shadow of Intent's "Reclaimer," while for the stupidly brutal pick I'll recommend Infant Annihilator's "The Battle of Yaldabaoth," the record that finally made Metal Archives cave and accept them on the website.
Shadow of Intent is kind of a middle ground between artsy and brutal so I gave you a full spectrum there LOL.
+1 for All Shall Perish
Some reallyyyyyyy tasty riffage in this one
new Sadness ep
I actually really like Erra’s first album but nothing has grabbed me since - maybe this will be the one
First two for me. Haven't really gotten into much of their stuff since then
I've never really dug into Erra's stuff but Breach is such a jam.
This song is incredible. Love the Tool influences in the middle.
Happy Friday dudes. Hope you're staying happy and healthy.
Fuming Mouth EP certified heat, goddamn
Some thiccc bass in this; I like
the Eternal Champion album is much riffier than their last one. And that chorus on "Coward's Keep" is damn awesome
The album is great but the cover is a bit “childish”. Definitely in my EOTY list.
