I've never listened to eternal champion, anyone know why they're not on spotify?

I thought the Ulcerate was impressive but didn’t get me going - that level of technical prowess is generally not what I enjoy the most in my music

Liked new Ulcerate a lot, and was actually surprised how melodic it was at times considering their last album pummeled me to bits.

Currently finished edit: Wow. I listed to more this year than I thought. The top of list will likely be more towards the top of the list because those were the releases that came to mind before I started using my Youtube Music library as a reference.

Subject to change. Will likely be added to. Just using this list as a reference point for when and if I actually make a list.

Do yourself a favor and jump on their bandcamp. Start with Armor of Ire and don't look back.

Not sure why they're not on Spotify tbh

oh yeah Oranssi Pazuzu was good too!

I need to listen to the new Primitive Man & Paysage D’Hiver

I totally get why some bands don't want to/aren't able to use Spotify but man oh man it really does send the chances of me listening to a band more than a couple times straight down the toilet if they aren't on that platform, LOL. Over time I've really just put all my music consumption eggs in the Spotify basket so it's a chore to break away from that.

That's probably going to bite me in the ass one day when Spotify inevitably goes away but hey what can you do.

I don’t know how old you kids are but I remember when I had to save $ for a month to buy a record I had read about it an magazine & hope it was good

It's that reason specifically that when I'm not broke I try to maintain a habit of routinely blind-buying CD's from record stores. Keep some of that sensation alive. I often wish I'd been around for the era of tape-trading. That would've been so cool.

    Obscene Repressed
    Slow Decay
    Fearmonger
    Where Only Gods May Tread
    Verminous
    Unconquered
    Endarkenment
    May You Be Held
    Bloodletting

    some favorites from the year

I never got deep into it, but tape trading was fun. I remember buying blank VHS tapes in bulk. Wish I'd held onto/preserved more of that stuff.

Books are so much easier to read than an e-reader or my phone. Gimme a paperback for something I really want to read.

Not that anyone cares, but I also finished my shortlist for now. It's also currently in subject to change without reason stage for the time being as I delve more into things like Eternal Champion and Ulcerate.

wow why did no one mention that the Whitechapel album that came out last year is legitimately fantastic. it reminds me kinda of a deathcore Katatonia.

not gonna like “deathcore Katatonia” is picking my interest even when I’m not a deathcore fan

which now that I think of...

anyone care to recommend one deathcore album that is artsy & out of the box & one that is just trying to be as stupid & brutal as possible? please don’t hit me with a long-ass list bc I will not know what to try out lol

kinda wanna sample what the genre has to offer
