Yeah not a bad list. I appreciate them not listing Meshuggah, Gojira, and Darkthrone in the top 10 based on their names, unlike many other publications.

 

No LA area shows :/ Would've liked to have seen Ringworm and Rivers of Nihil, even though I don't listen to them much.

That stereogum write up is interesting and the list is good with a lot of stuff I need to dive into. Still some of my favorites of the year were omitted, like sumac, an autumn for crippled children, ash borer that should've made it imo

Wonder how many places are gonna give proper dues to the madness of Howls of Ebb. Metal fans are praising it on forums but I don't frequent heavy music publications enough to know if it was critically recognized

 

I missed Darkest Hour like the last 2 times they came through Seattle, I'll not make that mistake a third time.

 

really hope after this release and the one three years ago inter arma bust out a bit, such a great band

 

They might've won some people over on that carcass tour, they certainly blew me away and I love them now

 

So Dillenger Escape Plan and Gojira are coming to my city in a festival headlined by Soundgarden, Def Leppard, and The Offspring...

 

I bet Anthrax wanted this tour more than KSE; KSE, and especially The Devil Wears Prada, bring in a much younger crowd, so it'll be a great way for Anthrax to gain a whole new set of fans to their music. I've never seen them before, but they're absolute legends in the thrash/metal scene, so I'd love to see them. Unfortunately they're not coming to Minnesota.

 

pitched the ringer to see if they would let me cover an upcoming release freelance. not expecting anything since the only heavier than punk thing they covered last year was metallica but we'll see

 

Times have changed since I saw them in an elementary school auditorium in my college town in 2009. That's for sure. If I'm remembering right, Black Tusk headlined that show too. Good times.

 

With Darkest Hour's new album being on Southern Lord, produced by Kurt, and them touring with bands like this, I have faith in them again. Especially after the disaster that was their last album...either way, I'll be at the Chicago date.

 

just saw the dude from intronaut makes his own guitars and they're the ones used by the deafheaven guys. pretty rad

 

I'm loving this cobalt record so much. dudes got his angel of death shrieks down.

 

I just discovered the Cobalt record last night. Still need to finish listening to it, but the first few tracks were awesome.

deserves all the praise

 

Intronaut is a cool band. I thought they were like metalcore or something up until last year. I'd never listened to them.

 

New Darkest Hour single. This is the return to form I wanted.
