5, I just haven't listened to much new stuff this year.

 

If I'm included in that 4, I thought it was decent. I haven't been a huge fan of them before, and I'll continue to check out their future releases. I probably need to give it a few more listens anyway.

If I like Baroness (later especially) Mastodon (Crack the Skye is fave), what other records would you guys recommend? Have listened to this new Gojira and liked it.

new one is fantastic. As always lots to unpack with this band. It starts off with a kind of theatrical thing I'm not super keen when black metal bands do. Lasts like 20 seconds but it doesn't make the best first impression

Their last 2 full lengths are at the very top of my favorite heavy albums list

Again, for fans of Blut Aus Nord craziness

well like I said Fas or Paracletus. On plenty of day my favorite heavy albums. Give the edge to the latter

Going from listening to Isis to OMG to Sumac, it's kinda incredible how Aaron can shift the tone of his voice

 

Loving the Ash Borer album.

 

I'm a really big fan of Trapt's new album DNA. (The one-hit wonders who made Headstrong) The acoustic versions of some of the songs at the end are especially great

 

I'll give it a shot since I actually kinda liked some of the stuff from their first couple albums. Is it a metal record though?

 

Trapt is still around? Headstrong was my jam back during my post-grunge phase.

Anyone ever listen to Red Death? They put out a 7' this year and its cool af but I have no clue what genre it is
