my veredict is the new shuggah (lol) album kills (duh) but is far from their top 3

 

I mean, I've always like Meshuggah but isn't their stuff a little same-y? That's coming from someone who has only listened to three of their albums, including the new one so it's not an incredibly informed query.

 

eh, it's one of those bands that give you enough to obsess over, and once you do, you realize the differences

 

I think they have played it safe the last two albums, without disappointing too much. I wouldn't mind seein something more conceptual like I or catch 33 next time.

 

Holy shit new Suffocate for Fuck Sake album....

 

New supergroup/side-project from vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher, guitarist Adam D of Killswitch Engrav, and drummer Shannon Lucas of The Black Dahlia Murder - just crazy heavy

 

I've always found Dutkiewicz annoying despite liking KSE. Definitely feeling this though. Hard to go wrong with Corpsegrinder and Shannon Lucas in one band together.

 

That band is great. Love 'em.

The new Anaal Nathrakh is fucking insane as well. Phenomenal record.

 

My bad, thought I read Wake on Lambgoat. Could've misread or they could've messed up.

Very curious to hear your thoughts. Album is a bit different, but....woah did it run me over on first listen. It's glorious.

 

Yeah it hit me pretty hard, too. Definitely more raw and grimy than I was expecting, but I quite like that. Some real knock out moments that made me stop what I was doing and just say holy shit - 'Sentence' for one comes to mind.

 

Man I was blasting that Ulcarest album this morning. Shit's crazy.

 

Yes, the raw/grimy feel really surprised me. But I think it works so well.

The pairing of Through the Gate and 33 Years Ago is...just a gut punch, love it. Love the moment in 33 Years Ago where the music cuts out to just drums and then it all just COMES BACK. It's wonderful. Top 5 of the year for me for sure.

We got Manatees, American Football and Suffocate for Fuck Sake records in the SAME year. God making up for taking Bowie...

 

The new Deathspell Omega is pretty great. I genuinely forgot how I much enjoyed their music since I haven't listened to them in a few years.

I'm pretty sure it's good, but I would like to hear a change in direction, even if it's subtle

 

New A7X music doesn't really excite me as much as it used to

 

Really enjoying that Serpentine Dominion record

 

New Vader today as well

 

Making a mental note now to try and give that a listen this weekend.
