    Jalen Ramsey is the GOAT

no problem man! just be careful where you put the patches if you buy that one, i own a hooded vest and i recently bought a Yellowcard (yes Yellowcard on a battle jacket) patch and accidentially put it under the hood lol

I just barely listened to this band for the first time the other day (one of their older albums). Gonna have to check this out.

Seizures in Barren Praise is still my favorite release they've put out, but Crown Feral is definitely a banger. Stoked to see them in November (FINALLY).

    New Opeth leaked.

I think this is the third strike for me, album wise. Mikael can keep straining to resurrect boring 70s prog til the bitter end -- all the way down to the terrible, blunted production quality -- but I won't be paying attention anymore.

Hate to be so negative, but having been a fan of both Opeth and Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson, this retro prog snobbery they've both slid into over the past 5 years has gotten under my skin. I could accept it quietly and move on if they weren't so haughty about it in interviews. As if fans must be so close-minded for failing to see how trying in vein to replicate their childhood idols shows progression from the actual creative work they did at their peak. Which clearly was a decade ago for the both of them.

    Opeth never clicked for me.

My unpopular metal opinion of the day: Opeth has always bored the snot out of me for the most part with some minor exceptions.

I could never get into them either. Maybe not such an unpopular opinion after all.

BWP and Ghost Reveries are where it's at. Still Life is pretty solid too.

Opeth has a fucking stellar discog, everything prior to heritage is great. unfortunately the last two suck and I doubt I'm gonna like the new one. Blackwater park is def the opus but damnation and watershed are also fucking great. Even the 90s material is good. Pretty much the only death metal band I've ever fully been able to get into

My familiarity with Opeths material is quite a bit more uneven than the average genre fan.

Since Im not the most informed especially with their latest work, I cant say whether I agree or disagree that it sucks or whatever.

However, I big time agree with your sentiment. Some bands I can think of that succumbed to idol worship or standardized stylings and then defend to their grave that it is progression.

I love Opeth's material up to Ghost Reveries, and I even like Watershed a bit. The last two didn't leave much of an impression on me at all. I don't really listen to them that much in general anymore. I kind of really need to sit down & pay attention to their albums when I listen to them and my tastes have changed a bit since college.

They sounded flawless live despite only playing a bar with a 100 cap here in Chicago. Everything was spot on. It was impressive.
