Personally, I think without Death, death metal would not be as widespread and diverse as it is. The dudes are legends.

Side story: My cousin was visiting from abroad, he lives in a country where in like the more rural areas, listening to rock and heavy metal is considered heresy. We went on a road trip and I played some death, painkiller changed his life. He never knew drums could sound the way it does in that song. Now he literally risks being ostracized by friends and family to listen to metal when he can haha.

I'm feeling this Lord Dying record.

 

I wrote BabyMetal off before as some weird Japanese gimmick backed by some pretty talented metal musicians but this newish song has me so hooked. I've listened to it so many times in the past couple days. It is so heavy and that chorus is so catchy and memorable.

I read somewhere that now the girls are in their 20s that they are dropping the whole Japanese teen girl image they had going on which seems evident by this live video. I checked out some of their previous stuff and while it sounds fun, nothing does it for me like this song. I really hope their upcoming album is more in the vein of this because I am really digging this sound. I'm stoked to see them at Aftershock later this year.

 

I respect them for their originality 100% I just don’t “get it” I guess lol.

I think at the end of the day they are going to be an industry created J-Pop band. There isn't much way around that. They really struck gold with the entire aesthetic.

Its really funny that the comment section of their facebook is basically all about how the record label is basically a t-shirt printing factory because they haven't released another album, but continue to make new merch. lol

 

When are we getting new Power Trip. I want new Power Trip. Please, more Power Trip.

 

I missed the Power Trip show last night, I was sad

 

Given the fact there was a four year break in between Manifest Decimation and Nightmare Logic, I'd be putting money on a 2020 release at the earliest for them unless they've been doing something in secret because I haven't heard any rumblings that they were working on new material.

 

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they don't release another record til 2020, but I hope I'm wrong.

STOKED for this show in the meantime though.

 

I'd say they're probably trying to ride the Nightmare Logic popularity wave as long as possible; right now it still seems hot, so more touring. They'll probably get around to the next record quicker this time, to capitalize on this newfound popularity

Darkest Hour is one of those bands that should be so much bigger than they are.

 

If only they were opening on this Parkway Drive/Killswitch Engage tour. Same with Unearth; bands that have been around a long time, that should be much bigger than they are
