An Autumn For Crippled Children is so great. The Long Goodbye would be in my top 10 of last year now if I redid my list.

 

This might be my least favorite thing I've heard from them. Bummer.

Glad it didn't turn out to be another St. Anger

 

St. Anger is a good record with horrible production and songs that should have been edited to be half as long.

 

Am I the only one that was pleasantly surprised by the new Metallica song? I am one of those guys that stopped digging their music after the black album, so this feels really weird to say in 2016.

 

It was ok. The mix was lacking but it's still better than the brickwalled DM. It sounds like they're trying to recapture that thrash sound, which is a good thing...I think.

 

I used to dislike Great Southern Trendkill, but damn is that record heavy. Probably the one I come back to the most now.

 

I only listened once, so I definitely need to re-confirm, but I am pretty sure I like the song haha.

 

It's a good song, but I wonder if the people who are enjoying it out of nowhere listened to DM? Very similar to some of the stuff on there.

Better mixed (still not the greatest there) and a sweet, simple riff though.

 

Trendkill is one of the most underrated metal albums imo. That thing gets passed over way too much. I have to thank my brother for telling me to go back to it a few years ago. It's a good album for sure.

 

The lyrics on the new Metallica song are awful.

"We're so fucked
Shit outta luck
Hardwired to self-destruct"

But song is okay otherwise. Definitely exceeded my expectations, but nothing worth writing home about. There are just so many other thrash bands doing it better nowadays.

 

Who are some thrash bands I should be checking out?

 

I was obsessed with Metallica from the time I was 10 until around shortly after St. Anger came out. I actually like all of their albums, but find it harder and harder to defend them, and obviously still feel like their glory days are long behind them.

That being said, the new song sound better than most of the post-Black album stuff.

 

New stuff? Municipal Waste, Evile, Toxic Holocaust, Havok, Skeletonwitch...

 

Just off the top of my head. Some of these bands aren't pure thrash bands, but are still damn good and worth your time, IMO.

Weird I never thought of skeletonwitch as thrash but there's definitely times where I thought it was a vektor song but it was them. I love that most of these thrash banda have a really nice technical component to it.

 

I actually agree with this. It's their weakest, but not as bad as people crack it up to be,

 

How was the show? That lineup is beautiful.

 

St. Anger would be considered a good record if it were anyone other than Metallica, was trimmed and wasn't totally mixed like garbaged.
