I generally pay less attention to the specific ranking on those lists and look more at what was included. I think overall this is a pretty good list, but it's also missing some things that I loved from this year (The Armed, Khôrada, Møl, Rivers of Nihil, Sumac).

With that being said, I think YOB is a fine choice for number 1.

I love Pantera, but most Pantera fans are intolerable.

btw, I have lived in Dallas my entire life

No joke, Silverstein has no business sounding as good as they do in 2018. Was genuinely impressed at how good they sound compared to when I saw them 9 years ago.

Did these riffs start the recent fires in California? This track is nasty

  7. This has the grooviness of III and the guitar licks of The March, I'm so hyped right now.

They have so many good songs. Matt's a cool dude. I bought one of their shirts years ago and we wound up emailing back and forth and talking about KWD for a while. I'd kill to see them live, but that'll probably never happen.

Also, while we're talking about KWD, I feel the need to bring up Bloodjin and The Demonstration.

Some solid thrashy death on this Friday from some of the progenitors of the genre. Considering this is the first time I've listened to any Deceased in like 10(?) years, I'm impressed.

Also, RIP Dave Castillo, the drummer on this album. He died earlier this week, apparently.

shit I think I'm gonna go see Ulthar tonight with Hissing/Blood Atonement. I haven't gone to a show in a minute and now I'm hitting 4 in a week if I end up going lol

I think some of you nerds might appreciate the sweet pleasant crossover licks from Mindforce.

The new Whitechapel single is good. You can’t deny that Phil has some brutal chops.

this album, this band. so unique. I saw them earlier this year and they only played half of the album which was still over 40 minutes lol

I like the idea of a guitar-less doom band, it just works so well.

  25. Nearing the end of my first dive into Killing Joke's discography. What an incredible and consistent career. I could highlight so many of their metal-ish songs, but this one in particular is stuck in my head right now:
