Neat, but not worth a three hour drive for me.

I'd like to see Necrot, but that's not coming here. Oh well.

Someone needs to doctor up Origin and Wolf King’s name as well. Too “neat”.

You know what I wish was still cool to do (or at least was for metal bands circa mid 2000's)

    Sound bites from movies.

Full of Hell did that on their album last year:

ACxDC probably has one of my favorite uses of a movie sample on a record on the first track of this EP.

How metal of me and my oldest friend that actually cares for non-mainstream music to go to Silverstein’s 15-year tour tonight with Hawthorne Heights, As Cities Burn, and Capstan.

If I don’t headwalk for the end of Niki FM can I still be metal?

I didn't recognize their logo, but Blood Incantation and Necrot would be a sick show. I've seen Cannibal and Morbid enough to last me.

I have high hopes for the new Unearth album. I've been holding out and all but one of the singles, but I saw them live last night and they played 4-5 tracks from it and they all sounded solid.

Fit For An Autopsy, The Agony Scene and Traitors (who I unfortunately missed) opened the show.

^Solid list. i have a few quibbles with where a few things would be ranked in my own personal rankings (e.g., Tribulation at #2? That's a bit of a reach). Still a few things on that list I need to check out - namely Chapel of Disease, Satan, and The Atlas Moth.

I have Wolves In The Throne Room/At The Gates/Behemoth back to back with Toxic Holocaust/Municipal Waste next week...and then Julien Baker three days later. Gonna be a wild ride.

I didn't realize there was an instrumental version of the MØL album. I'm going to have to check that out today:

I've been on a roll with shows, and this last week/the rest of the month is nuts (even for me)

Power Trip 10th Anniversary - last Saturday
Stick To Your Guns/Sanction - Sunday
    Thrice - Tuesday
Unearth/Fit For An Autopsy/Agony Scene - last night
    Father (Awful Records) - tonight
mewithoutyou and/or All Get Out - tomorrow night (possibly)
    The Contortionist/Intervals - Saturday
    Open Mike Eagle - Sunday
    Old Wounds - Monday
    Circa Survive/La Dispute/Queen of Jeans - Tuesday
Number 12/Rolo Tomassi/Arsonists Get All the Girls - the 24th
    Every Time I Die/Turnstile/Angel Du$t/Vein - the 28th
    Thou - the 29th
    In Flames - the 30th

If I survive this month, Drug Church, Cult Leader, TDWP, Cannabis Corpse and Sleep are next month just to name a few.

    THRASH METAL THVRSDAY

there's not really a theme today, other than THRASH. actually, today's first entry is more speed/heavy, but it's too good not to share.

    Hellenic speed/heavy:

And they released an album last month. It's as amazing as the album art:

And why not throw some classic Bay Area thrash in there:

Ok fine, we're doing more speed again. Speed is good.

and then we'll end it with some trve thrash:

    a literal succubitch

Zeal & Ardor's release is easily way, way more interesting than a lot of albums ranked above them. Mortuous? Really? That album was good but far from EOTY-list worthy. That seems to be a bit of a trend on that list there - albums that weren't that interesting being ranked higher than they ought to be. Just my personal, petty two cents.

I'm prepared for the onslaught of rotten veggies from the collective on this, but Zeal and Ardor's album is pretty appropriately placed on that list for me. I'd even put the WAKE, KEN Mode, and Cosmic Church albums above it (WAKE way above it).
