oh damn, I'd somehow never heard of these guys before, but I dig it a ton. gonna have to see if they're doing any shows near me anytime soon haha.

and you're dead on with that description. speaking of which, I'm digging that new Sword track. It's different, again, but at this point I'm ok with that. I like that they've been doing what they want to instead of stagnating like so many doom bands run the risk of doing.

the lineup for that tour here is effing stacked. them, sick/tired, and like rats.

the decibel magazine tour is also coming through the day before so i actually have a pretty sick weekend of metal planned, which is probably a good thing because i didn't make it to any shows in january at all.

I had two responses to the new Sword song:

    1) The response I had to the song is that it was okay. It continues their direction of becoming more of a throwback hard rock band with stoner influences as opposed to a straight-up stoner metal band. Which is fine, but they're just becoming more and more of a background music band to me. Something I'd put on while doing chores around the apartment as opposed to actually listening to them.

    2) I kept hearing dude sing 'DEADLY NIGHTSHADE", and this was the first thing that came to mind:

Mammoth Grinder here next week. Hopefully this fucking cold will be gone by then. Already missed Machine Head (oh well) and August Burns Red.

I've been a big Cannibal Corpse binge the past day or so. I forgot how good A Skeletal Domain was. It is STUPID how consistent CC are after so long.

Well, it depends on when they filmed the video; a lot of the time it can get pretty cool in the desert

Seeing Architects play their biggest headline show to date tomorrow. I’m so stoked for it, me and my mates are off up London for beers first to make a whole day of it too.

I’ve been a fan of this band for a decade now and it’s incredible to see that they’re now able to sell out a venue as big as Alexandra Palace (10,250 capacity).

It's crazy how big they are overseas. I'm gonna be seeing them here next month with STYG at a <1000 cap venue.

I think it’s mainly down to hard work with them constantly touring the uk/Europe over the years and consistently releasing great albums. This is a one off show so it’s in a bigger venue than they’d normally play on a tour here but they could easily sell out a uk tour of 5,000 cap venues. With them being a uk band it’s a lot harder to break America, espically with the type of music they play.

Still it’s gonna be incredible seeing them headline a venue this size.

New Misery Index song. These guys NEVER fail to deliver.

    Two more new tracks:

New Light the Torch song (formerly Devil You Know). Howard's vox sound great, but the song just feels a bit generic to me...like a mediocre Killswitch Engage b-side. I know I've talked about them with someone else in this thread before though so I figured I'd share.

Another new Judas Priest song from their upcoming album. This time it's the title track. I don't know what else I can say other than the fact I'm forever impressed that Halford and the rest of Priest can still bring it as hard as they do at their age. The song sounds awesome, and I'm definitely stoked to check out Firepower.

I can definitely back Hooded Menace. Death/doom stuff is perhaps my favorite overall style. I like both the gothic and death-ier sides of the genre.
