So the faceless are coming out with a new album in December, whatever

Skeletonwitch also coming out with new stuff with godcity. High expectations.

Really hope the new Skeletonwitch is good. I love their first couple of records, but the last thing they put out didn't do much for me.

The real question with The Faceless album for me is how much input are the members that aren't Michael Keene going to get? If they can even come close to catching the magic that they had on Planetary Duality again, it's possible the album'll be pretty solid. Otherwise, they'll continue descending into a mediocre Opeth-lite with some death vox thrown in here and there.

The Skeletonwitch stuff will sound awesome, but I'll still miss Chance on vocals for them. The dude from Wolvhammer was solid, but a bit underwhelming comparatively on repeated listens.

Definitely agree about Skeletonwitch's vocals. I don't follow them closely enough to know who's who, but I saw them live when Breathing the Fire came out, and then again last year with Abbath and High on Fire and immediately thought, "I miss the old guy"

Chance was just something special. I totally get why he left the band, but Skeletonwitch lost that dynamicism they had when he left. They're a pretty generic thrash act with death and black influences without him.

Yeah, that's kinda how I feel too. I'm glad the two guitarists have remained a constant since the beginning, but I'm not sure who does their song writing. I didn't care for the EP they put out last year, but everything else, particularly the first 2-3 records has been great. I'm hoping they can bring back some of that magic on the new album.

Yeah. I'm not usually into black metal that melds pagan and folk influences, but this is pretty damn solid. Probably not Top 25 for the year material, but something I might come back if I remember it.

To amend my earlier post, here are Thursday's discoveries #2 and #3:

Crusty death metal with some black metal(?) influences thrown in from NYC.

    Grindcore from the UK.

Going to see Hatebreed tomorrow. I LOVE the venue it's at. Outdoor intimate patio. Plus they always run promos on tickets so I got 2 tickets for $25 with fees.

Have fun. I'll be at Cattle Decap/Revocation/Full of Hell/Artificial Brain here in Chicago tonight. It'll hopefully be a doozy as well despite the fact I'm mainly going for the two opening bands.
