I'd never heard of that band before, but I happened to listen to their new album the other day and it's pretty solid.

Re; King discussion. I can't let this happen without sharing one of the first things that introduced black metal to me...and how bad it was in retrospect (Satyricon's new album is pretty good by comparison).

Hellripper and Condor have released some of my favorite thrash albums this year. These guys are in the same vein but include elements of speed. The new album is so sick. Here's a (terrible) video for their first single:

 

yeah the music ain't too bad, although I could do with a little less breakdown chugs. They're definitely not as bad about that as a lot of other bands are though.

Oh my god I'd heard that song before but I'd never seen the video. That's...uh, bad. Haha. He looks even more like parallel universe male Avril Lavigne here than usual. The album that song is from still has some good jams on it, imo. Haven't listened to the new one yet. Satyricon just never really caught on with me the same way a lot of their contemporaries did.

 

anyway I know they're both more hardcore punk than metal but the new Propagandhi and Comeback Kid records both rip. I'd say they're both the most metal records either band has released so far.

 

For all the OG headbangers out there - new single from the upcoming Morbid Angel album. It's out in December.

 

Both are solid albums. Reflections is likely a top ten album for me this year.

 

This is actually pretty promising. Definitely a step up from that bullshit they pulled on their last album lol.

 

Spotlights released a new album called Seismic and it's produced by Aaron Harris (drummer of ISIS). Album is pretty good so far
