Found these guys tonight. So many different genres that this thread eats up. I need to hear more.

Tomb Mold and Goatwhore albums are stellar, top 10 for sure. That Zeal & Ardor album was always weird but it's been a while since I've listened to it, should revisit it.

I'll never not love ABR but there's nothing special about the new song. I'm coming around to it more and that video is ridiculous lol

That Dead Cross album is alright. But unless it's Faith No More, I just can't take Mike Patton in anything other than small does. For some reason he's always annoyed the shit out of me as a person, ha.

Yeah I haven't been able to get into that Dead Cross album either and I'm a big Patton fan. Have you tried the Tomahawk album Mit Gas, that's always been my favourite Patton LP outside of FNM, that albums basically a heavier (and weirder version of FNM).

I saw Tomahawk open for Tool and it was really cool. Mike Patton wore a gas mask half the set.

This record was one of the biggest surprises of last year to me in how much it got jocked. Maybe it's just because it didn't click for me, but there were some tracks on there that were borderline unlistenable. It's a nifty idea to combine black metal with blues, soul, and spirituals. The execution left a lot to be desired tho.

In regards to The Faceless, this doesn't surprise me as that band has been a revolving door of musicians. Michael Keene has a lot to do with it and that he is extremely difficult to work with. He is very talented and gifted but that doesn't always equate to success. I personally think he should essentially be The Faceless and write all the songs and then just have a touring band.

At this point, it's just fun to watch The Faceless burn down to the ground. I know that sounds malicious, but they haven't been a great band to me since Planetary Duality and some of the excuses around their shenanigans recently have been incredible: their drummer's recent departure and subsequent explanation from both sides, them playing Summer Slaughter with a drummer they didn't even meet before his first gig with them and without a live bassist, and their European and Australia cancellations earlier this year. The excuses around the Australia cancellations seem especially unprofessional:

I don't actively want the Faceless to fail, but it's just amazing to believe a band of their stature can be this incompetent. They definitely provide some good internet popcorn .gif material.

I don't want them to end because I have really enjoyed their records. Like I said, Michael Keene just needs to be a one man show, eliminate the drama and if something goes wrong he has nobody to blame but himself.

That was my instant reaction regarding the faceless. They were doing so well with planetary duality but they just imploded and keene should take a lot of the blame. It's both sad and hilarious at the same time.

Have fun. The Dallas show was awesome. Wish I had gotten the Whiplash Experience and gone to more than one show though.
