Former guitarist, co-founder of heavy metal band Mastodon dies in Atlanta motorcycle crash RIP Brent.
Brent’s death made me think about that I’ve spent almost 20 years listening to that band and realizing just how important they were to me. I remember coming across the videos for Blood and Thunder and Seabeast on MTV’s website back in like 2006 and it completely floored me by how kickass they were, Brent’s playing was a big part of that. The man hands down inspired an entire generation of guitarists along with Bill, just so damn talented.
Really makes me glad the guys still in the band didn’t snipe back at Brent publicly, at least not that I saw, given the timing. Nothing even approaching a silver lining in how it all happened though

With thunderous riffs and crushing atmospheres, 1914 breathe grim life into the Austro-Hungarian campaign against Italy, capturing the staggering toll of nearly 230,000 casualties through a sound both despairing and uncompromising."
