yeah it’s fine but not really doing much for me. i think they’re a much better live band than on record
I swear we (or at least I) have had this discussion but I agree. Still not sold on their studio stuff but they were amazing live when they opened for Gatecreeper last year. Very heavy, gave me big unearth vibes with the breakdowns.
They're from my hometown. I saw their old bands many times and was at the first FS show. I get that it's low IQ Bolt Thrower worship and not really reinventing the wheel but I feel like the demo and first record were quite good. The follow up was maybe just more of the same but it had some standout tracks for sure. The newest record just sounds monotonous. Nothing stood out to me on my first two listens through. Every song is similar in BPM. Idk I just really wanted to love it.
yeah i saw them open for the acacia strain last year and they were great. side note i saw gatecreeper again recently in a tiny venue and it was so fucking good. love that band.
New Bogside Sniper Squadron is definitely gonna be a top 10 of the year for me so if anyone likes the idea of a Thin Lizzy and Argolescent marriage with songs about the IRA fucking people up instead of being racist you should probably go check it out.

Angelmaker were awesome! Great mix between the vocalists, great energy, and a really good live mix. Pretty much flawless. Shadow of Intent put on a great show with their production (lights / smoke etc), but to be honest, after Angelmaker they let me down a little. Ben doesn't really do much hype work with the crowd, and a lot of their stuff just blended together and sounded the same after a while. He's a beast on vocals for sure, but they weren't my favorite live band in this genre. Not necessarily boring, but not really an elevation of their sound. Angelmaker though - will catch them on a headline run next for sure. I caught a little bit of Mental Cruelty too and they seemed legit.
I saw Machine Head live for the 4th time last night and my second time seeing them do the An Evening With format which is just them on stage for almost 3 hours with no support and it was fucking brilliant!!
Castle Rat record from last year is a blast. The stage show seems a bit schticky to me with the costumes and performers outside of the band but the songs are there
