I like the new Rivers of Nihil album and want to check out their tour but they're opening for Katatonia and I have no idea where to start with their massive discography. What's a good starting point?
The Fall of Hearts for a taste of newer stuff, The Great Cold Distance for the alt-rockier middle era, and Dance of December Souls or Brave Murder Day for a taste of the more openly metally early work.
Tours in the spring are just insane. I feel i didn't see enough metal last year and in May alone there's about 10 I could go to if I was feeling reckless. so far I've got 3 but working on adding more. Feel like we're feasting good right now for live metal music.
Blackened Death Metal, Symphonic Death Metal, Deathcore from Belgium. Didn't make sense in my head when I read it, but it fucking works.
Antifascist, feminist, occult death metal punk from Italy. Kind of a genre blend of death metal with some crust, thrash, punk and black metal thrown in.
