Same but not a ton of metal. LOTS OF Hardcore and shoegaze.

 

my most listened to artist was the beatles, but metal artist was definitely incantation with i think deicide at a close second.

not surprising after the banger they put out this year

 

I dumped Spotify this year, so I'm not sure on any of the specifics, but I'd probably guess Kontusion was my most played metal band.

A little less metal this year overall than usual, though. Lots of d-beat/crust/goth stuff and the usual jazz and oddball shit taking up more and more of my time.

 

Astronoid, Artificial Brain, Undeath, Blood Incantation, Moon Tooth, Psychonaut, Immolation, Hath, Ulcerate, Sumerlands, and Becoming the Archetype all made appearances as well

i enjoyed parts of revolver way more than i thought i would and parts of it sucked shit

 

Started a The Gathering discography run the other day and just got to this album

Wild how much my tastes changed in a decade because I couldn't get into them in 2013, back when I tried to dive into their music after liking Anneke's solo albums, but this is now hitting me hard. The atmosphere on this thing is magical and Anneke is blowing my mind with her performance.

edit: I'm also realizing I hear a lot of Cocteau Twins in this, especially on the vocal side.
