who isn’t happy with the new deafheaven lol? the praise has been fairly unanimous

 

Not everyone is thrilled

 

I think the reaction to the song has been good. Although, some of the comparisons to other artists has been a bit far fetched. This isn’t genre bending or mind blowing but they do it well.

 

Deafheaven has always been a polarizing band tbh

 

I honestly like Deafheaven more as a full-on shoegaze/dreampop band. George has some surprisingly good cleans. I just hope they go the Ceremony route live and play these new tracks alongside the old blackgaze ones.

As a guy who's way into graphic design, I gotta say I actually like this. SLowly, Deafheaven's been breaking from typical blackgaze music. Their last album was by far their most ambitious. This denotes another possible change in direction, which I'm very excited for since a lot of blackgaze is samey. But this one's my favorite. Absolutely gorgeous.
