I gotta wonder if they used an algorithm to choose most of the photos and then if they had a select few they hand-picked for.

 

Gonna assume it was some type of algorithm based on genre. I saw three or four black metal bands that had the same cat pic that could've easily worked for all of them.

 

Hey I'm lazy and appreciate a lot of y'alls tastes in here - recommend me an Alcest album to basically start with as I've never done a full record and am trying to fix that, thanx

 

TBH, Alcest is a band that you probably need to do a full discography run from start to finish to really 100% appreciate. Considering Neige was one of the pioneers of blackgaze, there's a lot of charm with the earlier stuff even if it isn't anywhere near as refined. Their newer stuff is a lot more consistent.

If you had to pick one album though, I'd probably go with Ecalles de lune.

 

Can't recommend any album in particular but I can tell you that any time alcest comes on I go "oo alcest nice" and enjoy the next five minutes. This matters because I absolutely abhor blackgaze.

 

Always down for an album with a title called SLAY IN HELL

 

Nice I meant more lazy in terms of researching where is a good entry point from like articles on metal sites or w.e lol definitely going to go through them all just wasn't sure if there was any consensus "skip these" or "start here" albums w Alcest discography thank u!
