Best Death Metal Album of Each Year Since 1985

Goes a bit off the rails in the mid-00s (I really don't get all the love for Septicflesh), but all in all, this ain't a bad list which makes it a great list by Loudwire standards.

Doom-y, atmospheric black metal (but not blackgaze):

 

New AC/DC song sounds just like a great AC/DC song.

 

Sounds like EVERY other ACDC song ever. But I'm down with it.

 

But there are good versions of that song and some bad versions too. This is a good one.

 

Wednesday afternoon thoughts:

-I probably should revisit Septicflesh then. I was just surprised to see them pop up twice on this list. It's been probably 10 years since I've given them a proper listen since my college radio days where we got a promo of Communion when I was the metal director there.

-The new AC/DC song is about what I'd expect from a good AC/DC song in 2020. No complaints. My dad'll probably eat it up if it ends up on his classic rock station.

-The new Undergang drip dripped for those into death/doom. All I can say is that this band continues to be unable to do any wrong. Here's the first single for a sample:
