Chorus.FM Metal Thread Playlist 2, a playlist by Shane Boyd on Spotify

    Round 2.

    1. Dodsrit - "Endless Circle" (Solo project from an ex-Totem Skin dude that blends atmospheric black metal, post-rock, and crust. Perfect soundtrack for a freefall into an icy canyon)
    2. NEEDLE - "Reaper Descents" (DC grindviolence FFO of 7 minute EPS that begin with King of the Hill samples)
    3. Hyperdontia - "Excreted From The Flesh" (Death metal out of Copenhagen. Aural equivalent of a tooth extraction)
    4. The Ruins Of Beverast - "Exuvia" (Blackened atmospheric doom metal? IDK man. It's good shit as Vince McMahon would say).
    5. SPY - "Service Weapon" (You hate cops? Great. You'll like this Pt. 2)
    6. WAKE - "Better Living Through Apathy" (Canadian grind from my favorite album from them)
    7. Critical Defiance - "Desert Ways" (Chilean thrash metal. Oh lord, the riffs)
    8. Archagathus - "Intoxicating Aroma" (The album cover features a Fabio lookalike playing saxophone on the back of a horse. I was sold at first sight)
    9. Warp Chamber - "Abdication of the Mind" (The world needs more bands that ape Blood Incantation and Tomb Mold so I'm here for this completely)
    10. All That Remains - "For Salvation" (Oh to be 15 and completely ignorant of the world again. At least that's what this song represents for me. Every playlist needs a good nostalgia trip)
    11. Vanum - "Under The Banner of Death" (Riffy, melodic black metal)
    12. Wound Man - "Pound for Pound" (50 second powerviolence palette cleanser)
    13. Noose Rot - "Worship The Crypt" (Death metal from members of Gatecreeper and Skeletonwitch that sounds a lot like Gatecreeper but a tad better)
    14. Drawing Last Breath - "Dragged from Light Forevermore" (The world also needs more bands that completely copy Prayer for Cleansing's template to metalcore)
    15. Woman is the Earth - "Brother of Black Smoke" (Yes, there are black metal bands in South Dakota)

I have a soft spot for ATB. Forging a Future Self is still one of my favorite records. But I don't think that was on Sumerian?

Rareform was though, and that one's dope too.

I got put into a Dodge Journey halfway through my trip because my rental Highlander was having issues. I hated the Journey, was super uncomfortable and my least favorite part of my trip.
So I hit Iowa’s border around 9p, fueled up and ran through the entire state at night time just wanting to get my drive done until I hit Ohama around 1. Sunroof open blaring Skid Row, Black Sabbath, Van Halen and the like. Didn’t see a cop the entire drive through, just truckers of all sorts with ridiculous rig setups. It felt like a time warp into what I imagined my parent’s stories and experiences roadtripping when they were in their twenties was like. I also saw “the biggest truckstop in the world” in Iowa so they have that and slipknot.

I recommend it to anyone. It’s a weird time and a crazy year but those circumstances are also what brought me here.

The labels run by Sammy and Justine I think. Either way it’s great to see them find an outlet. I’ve pre-ordered PR’s album on vinyl from there. I’ll prob pick up Svalbard’s once I get paid next week too.

Yeah. But a drive-in metal show for a band that doesn't rely on theatrics like GWAR does? Call me a debbie downer, but that doesn't interest me at all.

All of the new singles from the upcoming EP are surprisingly good. I'd start there and then go with Symphonies. But that's just me.

Chorus.FM Metal Playlist 3, a playlist by Shane Boyd on Spotify

Round 3. Went with the quick hitter edition today. 15 songs in 32 minutes.

    1. FRIENDSHIP - "PUNISHMENT" (Japanese grind/powerviolence/sludge collective shrouded in mystery. Sounds like Full of Hell and Weekend Nachos got eaten by a fog giant).
    2. Cannibal Corpse - "Scalding Hail" (All killer, no filler from the death metal gods)
    3. Power Trip - "Suffer No Fool" (I've been listening to a lot of Power Trip the last month since Riley passed so I needed to give them the nod with probably my favorite track)
    4. Caustic Wound - "Visions of Torture" (Members of Magrudergrind, Mortiferum, and Cerebral Rot playing a grind/death metal band that sounds like a menage a trois of all three)
    5. Full of Hell - "Language of Molten Cherubs" (Noise)
    6. Bone Sickness - "Vehicular Homicide" (Just don't commit vehicular homicide whilst listening. Please and thank you).
    7. Chepang - "Pakhandi" (Grindcore out of Brooklyn by Nepali immigrants featuring two vocalists, two guitarists, and two drummers. Paint your own mental image of them live)
    8. Couch Slut - "In a Pig's Eye" (Sludgy noise rock out of NYC. Loud and rowdy stuff)
    9. Skullshitter - "Acid Crazed Gravediggers" (I once saw a Facebook event for these guys were they were forced to call themselves Skullpooper. It made me chuckle)
    10. Internal Rot - "Sensitive Cop" (You hate cops? You'll like this then Pt.3)
    11. Sheer Mag - "Blood From A Stone" (Thin Lizzy riffs + power pop = probably shouldn't be on this playlist, but they put out one of my favorite releases from last year so they get the free pass from me)
    12. Gulch - "Impenetral Cerebral Fortress" (The sonic equivalent of bloodletting under a full moon in the desert - metallic hardcore with black metal influenced vocals. Probably my current record of the year)
    13. Dead in the Dirt - "No Chain" (Straight-edge vegan atheist grindcore aka music for assholes as my friend Mitch puts it)
    14. Grinning Death's Head - "Year of the Snake" (Token black metal song on this playlist. Lower-fi, noisy shit FFO Bone Awl, Utzalu)
    15. Regional Justice Center - "KKK Tattoo" (Who would have thought a powerviolence band would have the longest track on the playlist?)

  23. Carrow

maybe this time, I won't be alright Supporter

Heh, same. I'd resigned myself to it being shelved for a bit after all that Holy Roar shit went down but they turned stuff around with Justine and Sammy's label SUPER quick.
