The new Skeletal Remains and Wrong are pretty solid.

I appreciate the concept, but it's pretty forgettable as far as folk music goes. The initial track on that half of the double LP threw me off with the weird melodic spoken word type vocals.

Here's a neat little grindcore split featuring my favorite Brazilian grinders on one side and some rad Nepali expats on the other.

Oi. Anyone else ever order from Defeated Sanity's webstore? I just ran into an issue with my order. Ordered two albums, got a package saying it contained two, only had one inside. Did somebody just goof or is this common for them?

Did you order it from their Bigcartel merch page? I'm gonna assume if it's Bigcartel that they or someone close to the band is running it themselves. Shit like this happens all the time with mailorder stuff. I'd just contact them and say that they fucked up your order in a pleasant manner. Usually reputable places will be quick to rectify this. Though it might take a bit to hear back from them if they're running their own merch store.

Aye, it was bigcartel. I emailed their bigcartel email address explaining the situation and just asked if they were shipped separately or if there was a mistake made. My only concern is if I sent it to the wrong email now, hah.

That and there was a typo in the email I only noticed just after sending it which OF COURSE is a huge deal what are you talking about.

New album of crust/powerviolence/d-beat from former and current members of Stay Ahead of the Weather, Into It. Over It., and Slow Mass. This is pretty rad.

Further reactions to some of the recent new songs that have come out from upcoming albums/single releases + other positive stuff:

-After a few more listens, Honeycomb is an embodiment of what bothers me a lot about a lot of Deafheaven tracks when taken in individually. The song starts out great (especially the faster parts from 2:30-3:30 - that's just solid, fastpaced black metal and the transition around 4:15 to a more midtempo part around the solo), then has a great solo, and then transitions into a more melodic passage that just doesn't have a lot of payoff, IMO. It just kinda fades into nothingness with some decent drum work. It could have ended around the 8-9 min mark and been a lot more effective.

-The new Pallbearer track is pretty solid. It's suggesting that the band is heading in a bit more of a proggier rock direction than some of their past murky doom work. Could be a good thing or a bad thing, but we'll have to see what the payoff is later. This track is better than some of the lows on Heartless, but doesn't reach some of the same high I saw on that album. Plus, I couldn't but help think that I'd rather be listening to Khemmis the entire time listening to that track...I'm so excited for that album later this year.

-The new Ghost song is a lot better than what I've come to expect from them at this point. Definitely some solid Sabbath/Blue Oyster Cult vibes on it that work well with what I've been listening to recently. I didn't think I'd be potentially excited at a Ghost album in 2018, but here we are.

-The Ghost Inside had their first band practice since their accident today. Fucking awesome news:

Never been a fan of their music, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to support their recovery after what they've been through. The fact they haven't thrown in the towel after all of this is incredible.

  23. So, because of their name, they were labeled as satanic, and were therefore labeled suspects of terrorism? I don't know much about them outside of the music, but that sounds messed up.

A lot of their music sounds samey, but I've had songs from Kata Ton Daimona Eaytoy in steady rotation since that album came out.

I've never been a fan, but yeah this was bullshit. They've gotten in trouble before because of the name, which is unfortunate.

It's a predominantly Eastern Orthodox country with values in the government that align with that. In that part of the world, these things happen to metal bands quite frequently in Russia and the former Soviet states. Tiamat was arrested and not allowed to perform there before according to the Reddit thread in on the topic. Belphegor has been repeatedly harassed when they've played in Russia by activists and a Cannibal Corpse show was raided by Russian police, for example.
