Darkspace is weird as hell. I have to be in a very specific state of mind to enjoy them lol

I guess I'm in that state today because it's making for nice background noise while I fuck around in this Excel spreadsheet at work. The tortured screams of a guy sounding like he's being sucked through a wormhole are just doing it for me.

I'm also excited to see them live in May.

Yeah, the shit about D666 made me write them off for good as well. Shame, too, as Hounds At Ya Back was a dope track. Always amusing seeing crusty black metal blowhards yapping about the evil Essjaydoubleyoos and PC Culture absolutely lose their shit and cry like a 12 year old on stage at the smallest criticism, though, lol.

    Also, new release listening:

    - This new Harakiri for the Sky is excellent. I'm beginning to really enjoy atmospheric black metal of this variety. It makes excellent focus music.

    - Ditto for the new Drudkh.

    - This new The Crown album is absolutely furious holy shit. The riffs, the vocals, the lyrics. This is how melodeath should always be done. None of that Wintersun-clone power-metal-with-screams wank.

They are a band that I would consider a "grower" because they are SO complex but once you get it you are hooked.

Very interesting choice of a song title. Adenosine literally stops and resets your heart.

I was fairly "ehhhh" on The Void by Parkway Drive, but now I really dig the song. Winston's voice just has this deep, nasty guttral sound to it - soooo good

Yeah all the songs on that EP have pretty far out song titles, haha

Damn. Sucks that 99% of us won't get to enjoy that show. Hopefully there's more to come.

Gonna venture a guess and say the show is being officially announced on Friday at that time with The Accused (old crossover act that is/was on Southern Lord) as an opener.

It'll probably be at The National unless they decide to do something crazy and have it at Strange Matter, The Broadberry, or one of the breweries in the city that occasionally hosts shows.

The whole album is titled off neurotransmitters...I love it.

That makes more sense but's it is still just weird seeing it as a song title. It doesn't change how amazing the music is.

Some good DM from last month that sounds exactly like Leprosy-era Death if you're in need of that today

Lol. This Watain/Destroyer 666 show is on the back patio of a restaurant. They put up black curtains over all the back windows to block the Satanism from the restaurant patrons. I've been to 50 shows here and this is a first. Also lots of old people wandering around to see what's going on back here and looking terrified.

Holy shit that's fucking gold. How did they even finesse that?? Getting a show like that at a venue clearly not out for this style of music (even if they have had metal shows before but the presence of the scared old people just makes me think they don't host black or death metal much), especially with the sacrilegious themes?

I really hope Watain were doing the "throwing blood into the crowd" thing at this show. Still kicking myself for not realizing the Watain/D666 tour stopped in my city until after the fact. Oh well. At least I get to see Sleep next month.
