It's better than a large chunk on the list. But it's not trendy to like btbam anymore.

Maybe they need more of a presence on Bandcamp.

I got goosebumps. I'm not sure about Morgan's vocals but that solo! Sevendust did a solo!

I was just shitposting, but this is generally true for me after Colors.

The r/metal community generally hates shit like BTBAM so it's no surprise they're not on the list.

They're probably on the more hardcore side of things, but I'm seeing Andy Hurley drum tonight with SECT. I can always get down with the HM-2.

Colors and Alaska are alright I guess. They're just not very appealing at all. Haven't heard the newest one but the single I heard was pretty bad.

I don't see why it's a big deal what does and doesn't make a list on Reddit anyway. /shrug

And hey, they probably should get a bandcamp, they give artists the biggest chunk of money by far and it has a thriving metal community. Don't see a negative in that

It's not. LOL. The metal subreddit turns into a shit show the moment a popular band gets posted so I take that place and these lists with a grain of salt.

But it's a great place to discover new bands. I first heard about Mgla, UADA, and Tomb Mold there among others.

I really shouldn't post here after a few beers or my posts in here will leak from the unpopular musical opinions thread.

Funny enough I discover most shit on bandcamp or YouTube. Definitely got into Mgla because it was trending on bandcamp for a while

It's a blessing and a curse...anything they've released afterwards got the "but it's no colors" treatment. Like the great misdirect and coma are totally fine albums but they get no love.

The new rivers of nihil is better than expected. I like where they're heading with the solos being more groovy but it doesn't gel with the rest of the sound just yet. Also their vocalist sounds a lot like the guy from upon a burning body.

Re: BTBAM thoughts and other things

    1. BTBAM actually has a Bandcamp page. It only has their Metal Blade releases on it so it's likely more a function of the label, but it's still nice to see larger labels embrace the Bandcamp platform. Now if only Sumerian could catch up...

    2. SECT was awesome last night. The grindier elements thrown in really worked well live and Chris Colohan is a madman of a vocalist. Hive (the Minneapolis d-beat/crust band) and Dethbeds were awesome openers. I think I posted Dethsbeds' only LP a few pages back if you want to dig that up, and they replicated that sound well in a live environment. Hive was a real nice surprise as I hadn't listened to them prior to the show. They played a really nice riff-driven amalgam of d-beat, crust, noise rock, and doom. I'll be jamming them pretty heavily over the next few days.

    3. Killjoy from Necrophagia passed away over the weekend apparently. Dude was a progenitor on vox in the death metal genre so it's sad to see him go. :(

    R.I.P. Killjoy.

Necrophagia is one of those bands I'd always liked when I heard them, but never dove further into. Maybe now's the time. Didn't Anselmo play guitar on a couple of their albums?

A quick check of the Archives reveals Pantera Phil, aka Anton Crowley, was a member from 1997-2001. What an edgy stage name. Haha.

Does Metacritic weight reviewers differently when calculating their overall metascore? Because the 7 reviews for Rolo average out to 85, not 92.

Edit: Frequently Asked Questions - Metacritic - Answered my own question via Google.
